A Very Merry Unbirthday!

Matty was a summer baby. Because of this she gets to celebrate her birthday twice! Life just wouldn't be fair if you couldn't bring cupcakes to school and have your class sing "Happy Birthday" to you. Matty's preschool celebrated her unbirthday today!! She was, and I quote, "so excited!"; and I think she thought it really was her birthday!
We made some pretty little cupcakes this morning and she couldn't wait to take them to school to share. When I went to pick her up, they were all enjoying the cake. She was being so shy because the kids kept thanking her for the treats. It was so cute. Anastyn got to come in and sit by Matty and have a cupcake too!
We love Matty and are so blessed to have her in our family!! We are more than happy to celebrate twice!!

Sunshine

It is Perfect outside today. Absolutely Perfect. The sun is shining, the sky is blue, the air is still.

We went to the park this afternoon and soaked up the sunshine. The girls played and played. I could hear them giggling as they ran up the stairs and soared down the slides. They took turns on the swing and pushed eachother. Anastyn got to hold a baby and Matty got to play with a friend from preschool. They had so much fun.

****

And then Matty ran away. Out of the park, across the alley, into someone's yard, and around a garage before I finally caught her. And then we went home. I wasn't having fun anymore. I know...I am a party-pooper.

I think it may get cold again before Spring is officially here in the Big Horn Basin. But, we sure enjoyed the warmth and sunshine today!! Good-bye Winter - see ya next year!!

More Adventures of Matty and Anastyn...

Last night we went out to Grandpa Leithead's to hang out. As usual, we were playing games. This time it was the fabulous Wheel of Fortune on the computer (we rock, by the way!!). Anyways, admittedly, sometimes we don't pay as much attention as we should to my little ones while we are busy solving puzzles.

All of a sudden I came to the realization that my children were spitting, which usually means they have gotten bored and are entertaining themselves with the contents of their sippy cups. So, without taking my eyes off our game, I started saying, "Quit spitting your drinks! Girls, I mean it!" blah, blah, blah...whatever. They kept doing it. I kept telling them to knock it off. Then Grandpa Leithead said, "I didn't give them any drinks." Well, this got my attention, so I crawled under the table to see what the heck was going on. And this is what I found...

A whole pepper shaker spilled on the carpet under the table - and my girls with pepper on their tongues, their eyes watering and their mouths slobbering and sputtering. To me this was funny. Call me mean or whatever. I don't care...I thought it was freaking funny - and so did Kyle. We were laughing our heads off and our girls were crying because their mouths were burning. Parents of the year, I know. But you must understand that this is all after Matty had put one of her outfits and my favorite bra in the toilet, having to chase Matty all over my parents yard - in heels and a skirt - before church, Anastyn getting into Kari's cough drops, and writing all over herself with red pen. So, ya, it's hard not to chuckle a little when they get whats comin'!

So, we were trying to figure out how to put the fire out. We tried water. We tried milk. Thank goodness Grandpa had the brilliant idea to give the girls ice cream! The crying stopped as soon as the word was said. Ice cream is definitely medicinal!! :)

The night went pretty well after this...except for all the poopy diapers, the discovery of the emptied salt shaker in the toy room, and an incident involving a tampon. hehe!

Almost Got Me...

Anastyn has a new tactic. Last night she wanted to watch a movie so bad. I told her 'no' cause she had already watched like three movies yesterday. And this is after the pediatrician told me to limit the girls' movie watching to 30 minutes a day - say what??? ha. Anyways - she was not happy with my answer. She threw a fit. Cried and carried on. I ignored her. So she left the room for a few minutes.

When she came back, she walked up to me quietly and softly set the remote in front of me. I said thank you. And thought I had won. A few minutes later she came back and said in her very sweetest voice, "Mommy, up?" I looked down into those dark brown puppy-dog eyes and she said, "Mommy, up? Hug?" Of course, I couldn't help myself - I picked her up. She gave me the nicest hug she has ever bestowed upon me. She even squished her cheek against mine and held my face in her little hands. Then she said, "Yuv you, Mommy." I melted and said, "I love you too, Anastyn."

Then she looked me in the eye and said........."Movie??"

Ha!!! That was quite the performance!! She still didn't get to watch her movie. Not because I wasn't dangerously close to caving...but because we had to go to the grocery store. That was a close one!!

**P.S. - Still having trouble going up and down the stairs. Did Yoga X this morning. The only reason it was relaxing is because most of the hour and a half I just watched Kyle and the people on tv do yoga. I really like Child's Pose. Especially at 5:00 a.m.**

Sweaty, Stinky, and Sore

Crazy us. Kyle and I decided to try the infamous p90x. It's a 90 day kick-your-butt workout program that is supposed to give you serious results. I'm sure you've all heard about it. Kyle wants to lean up and get ripped. I just want to get rid of the junk in my trunk and the flabby belly that has been steadily developing ever since we moved back to Wyoming. We considered getting a gym membership, but heard about this program and thought it would be nice to do in the comfort of our own home. :) We are on day 2. Out of 90. My butt has already been kicked. My butt was kicked after the fit test you have to take before starting the program (to make sure you won't kill yourself). I couldn't do a single pull-up. I won't even admit how many push ups I wasn't able to do. And the jumping jacks. Yikes. So, ya, I'm a little bit out of shape.

Yesterday we had an hour of Chest and Back in the a.m. (very, very, very early a.m. – which is a totally separate reason that I am completely exhausted today) and in the afternoon 15 or 20 minutes of “Ab Ripper”. And I am giggling to myself because while Kyle and I were doing the “Ab Ripper”…other things were “letting rip”. If you know what I mean….

…Needless to say I am hurting today. I am grouchy, sore, and very tired. And when 5:30 rolled around this morning and the alarm clock went off – Kyle didn’t even argue with me about putting off our hour of Plyometrics til this afternoon. Unfortunately for me, my children decided to wake up THAT EARLY anyways. Little rug rats.

We just got done with “The Beast” (Plyometrics – or jump training). I hurt. I hurt. I hurt. For the record, I hurt. But I guess that’s good, right? I really hope I burned a few calories…

And right now I just kinda hope that tomorrow never comes. Because I will be waking up early again for things like this: Deep Swimmer’s Press, Full Supination Concentration Curl, Chair Dips, Seated Two-Angle Shoulder Fly, etc, etc, etc. Doesn’t sound fun. And a whole new set of muscles (shoulders and arms) are going to be screaming at me. Oh ya, and we have to do the dreaded Ab Ripper again! Shoot me now.

Kyle told me I look skinnier already! He just doesn’t want me to quit. Nice of him anyways, huh?

I forgot to mention the nutrition part of the program. I told Kyle right up front that I wasn’t even going to mess with that. I don’t mind putting some effort into eating better, but I just can’t make myself eat things like Chilled Cucumber Soup and Soy Sausage Muffins. And I like to eat my sandwiches with bread. Don’t you?? Come on! So, if I don’t see any improvements in my body after I put it through 90 days of torture, we will know why. It’s because I just love my food too much.

Kyle is much more disciplined than I am. I spent a large part of my morning thawing, cooking, chopping, and bagging chicken for him. Because he is going to eat a lot of chicken. I really am sorry that he will have to watch me eat things that he is trying to deny himself. But not that sorry! :)

*Um, guys, I just tried to walk up the stairs and my knees gave out on me. Great.*

Wish me luck!!
